Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad following the controversy from his televised remarks.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after making accusations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has chosen not to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Their results have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the outburst were never meant to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and on a positive run.”
