The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Substantial Extension for Two More Seasons.

During the fall season, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the channel launched a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. At a time often characterized by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who found the show and supported its peculiarly charming style.

"All of you got behind this new show, praised it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about watching this lovable family go about their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its current layer of irony. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

The Path Forward

Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to enjoy the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
